98 music slowdown program

Post by Ken Williams »

Does anyone know of a free or trial download that slows down music on a CD or mp3 file that will work on windows 98? I'm trying to download some type of slowdown program on this computer(XP) and install it on a windows 98 computer that is not hooked up to the net. Does anyone know of an older program that is still available?

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,

I've tried several of these programs (including 2 that cost money,) and by far the best Ive found is called Best Practice and it's free.

You should be able to find it at ...

Hope it's what you're looling for

Ken, I don't know if you have "Band-In-A-Box or if you are thinking of getting it. I remember receiving an email stating that a "slow down" program is included with the new version or with an upgrade.
If you are running BIAB song files (SGU,MGU), you can run them at any speed, in any key.

Ken--Winamp http://www.winamp.com/ claims to work with WIN 98 SE (it also say it requires 500MHz Pentium III--I wonder if your old 98 is up to speed?). It has slow down plug-ins. I have a zillion music programs onboard and Winamp is the one I use for slow down playbacks.

Jon, the operating system is regular window 98. I got the computer at work for free and I placed it in my music room. I haven't checked it out yet but I think it is Pentium II and about 200 megahertz. It was part of system at work so it doesn't have a modem installed. I was trying to find some old slowdown software and download to my other computer, save on a disk, and install it on the 98 computer. I tried it with slowgold(slowblast) but it would not work. Haven't given up though.
Thanks to all for the help.

Ken
