Any free anti-virus program for Windows 98?
I am reasonably disgusted with Norton's constant raising of the renewal fees for something I already bought and paid for. Is there even a need for separate virus protection if you have a firewall?

As far as email viruses go, my ISP catches all of them. Some websites, however will send a virus when you access the site.
I have used Grisofts "AVG" for several years and it is good (and free). Do a search for "avg free". You will find a free download.

Check out:

Their personal non-commercial version is still free, and updated regularly.

I would say yes, you still need AV even with a firewall.
A firewall will limit the number of open ports but, you still may encounter files containing a virus through regular web browsing (port 80), or through email.
http://www.avast.com/ is nice and free for home-use. You have to re-register every 3 months to continue receiving updates.
