AVG problem
I have the free version Grisoft's AVG. It scans emails for viruses and spyware. But lately, when I try to check my email, it just gets stuck in what appears to be the connection process. I downloaded the program again but it still is not working correctly. My question is, how do I disable that part of the program? I've tried a few things but nothing seems to work. If I can't disable that part of the program I will have to uninstall it, as it is way to much trouble to check my email as it is right now. Any help would be appreciated.

Ken,
I'd ditch AVG and get www.avast.com
I did. It's 'free' too, and has a really good working auto-update.
When I couldn't download the latest AVG updates, auto or manual, I canned it.
Avast works really well; give it a try.
I'm running WindowsXP.

There is nothing wrong with AVG. I have used it for years(as have thousands of others). I have had no problems using it or downloading updates for all my computers. If you are running XP, be sure that your version is the year 2005 version for XP.

Thanks guys for the responses. Jon, under the control center, email scanner, plugin tab, there are three options:
"Ignore plugin status"
"Use the shared test configuration"
"Use the personal test configuration"
I've tried applying each and none fix the problem. I downloaded AVG from Grisoft's website a few days ago, so I assume it is the 2005 edition. Other than the scanning problem, I have no problems with AVG. I may just uninstall and opt for another one of the free programs like the one Chip mentioned.
Thanks,
