Print head cleaning

I had a black ink problem and now there is black on the bottom of the print head. Is there a procedure for cleaning this off , maybe with a cotton ball and alcohol or something ? Thank for any help

The printer is a Canon S-600.

Tissue and water, then rubbing alcohol and tissue or cue tip, but not too much! JP
