I use an Goldwave, an audio editor. I load the entire wav file then select what portion I want, such as the two examples I gave on my web site. Goldwave also has a fade out function, which is also used on the examples. When I have it the way I want it I save the new wav file and/or convert it to MP3 (which Goldwave will also do).
