harmonizing tone gadget

Post by Ed Altrichter »

Is there a synthesizer or something that will play a harmonizing tone when only one note is played on a lap steel, to make 2-part harmony ? Ed

Yes, most of the multi-effect boxes have a feature like that. But I don't think it sounds musical.

The various vocal harmonizers on the market do that. It's better to just play the harmony yourself, though. There's no two-part harmony that can't be played on a lap steel.

I've got a Boss Harmonist HR-2 stomp box (discontinued). It can produce two harmony voices in addition to your original tone, each voice being selectable as to interval abvove or below your signal, with volume of each tone being adjustable.. I got it in hopes of simulating some twelve string guitar type jangles. Big disappointment. The thing makes you sound like a synth. Bottom line--I agree with Earnest.
