I have bony fingers from trying to find a flat symbol. My OS is MS XP Pro. I have been through most every language and every symbol looking for a flat or sharp symbol. The best I have come up with is an italicized b and a pound sign #. The # is not too bad but the b doesn't cut it. There must 'b' a better way without buying a music program. Can you Help? I can draw them with ACAD for diagrams but not for MS Word for articles.
Thanks, Al from Withlacoochee
[This message was edited by Al Braun on 03 March 2005 at 04:45 PM.]

Al, check your font options.
In both the Internet Explorer and the AOL browser, there is a font selection called Maestro which has proper musical symbols.
A lower case letter 'b' gives you a proper flat sign and the # ( Cap 3 ) will give you a proper sharp sign.
As well, the letter i will give you both the flat and sharp sign by toggling the shift key.
The left-bracket sign will give you a flat sign in parentheses or a sharp sign in parentheses by toggling the shift key.
The right-bracket sign will give you a double-sharp sign in parentheses.
Mighty fine,
