Problem with Zone Alarm firewall

I upgraded to the latest version of Zone Alarm firewall recently, and discovered that I couldn't access my email. I reverted to the previous version of ZA and all was well.
Is there a way that I can run the current version of ZA and still access my email?
I've looked in preferences, but it is beyond my comprehension.

Problem over: I re-installed the latest ZA over the previous version, thus keeping all the parameters.
