On the contrary, a Mac is ideal for converting audio files, but I will not debate the issue. iTunes in either Mac or PC fomat will import WAV files. You can select the format that you wish to store the files in. It will convert ACC, AIFF, Apple Lossless, MP3, and WAV files. The WMV files are convertable but require more advanced techniques. iTunes is free, it upgrages for free and is very stable. It complements any computer music system.

iTunes is available for free in PC format. You do not need a mac. Here:

You might also want to check out mkwACT. It's freeware; I use it all the time for decoding SHN files into WAV files.

Audacity is a free program that does it very well, also does such things as change pitch, remove hum, and many other things. Sorry I don't have the url but a google search will find it If you don't find it, or need help using it let me know.
