DVD ROM drive VS. DVD player

Post by Jeff Strouse »

I notice that when I play a DVD in my computer's DVD-RW-ROM drive, the screen is a lot darker than when I play it in my DVD player downstairs with the TV. I've adjusted the brightness level on my monitor, but there still is a noticable difference in "darkness" on the screen. Can anyone shed some light on this mystery for me?

Thanks!

If you are using Windows media player, you can adjust the brightness. JimP

I've tried several "player" programs...PowerDVD, RealPlayer, Nero, WMP, and CyberDVD, but the picture is darker no matter which one I use. I wonder if it could be the drive? Or possibly the monitor...it's a Dell SuperVGA (?) monitor...only about 4 years old.
