accidently overwrote them with another bunch of pix

How did you do that? Use the same filename?

They may be toast.... If you "deleted" them they may be in the trash bin, but if you "overwrote" them, they just ain't there no more.
[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 06 November 2004 at 07:46 AM.]

I assume you took these pictures with a digital camera. One thing you've got to be real careful with when you upload the pictures from the camera is file names for the pictures. Some digital cameras start numbering the pictures from 0001 each time you clear the pictures out of the camera memory chip. If you're not careful, you'll replace all the pictures in your directory with pictures with identical numbers. Now you're screwed. To avoid this mess, you've got to create a new folder for each batch of pictures or rename every picture as you upload it.
It's best to have a camera with continuously incrementing numbers (Kodak, for example)that don't revert to 001 each time the pictures are cleared out of the camera. Sounds like this is what happened to you. I found this out the hard way and took the camera right back to the store.
[This message was edited by Bill Bosler on 06 November 2004 at 03:28 PM.]

[This message was edited by Bill Bosler on 06 November 2004 at 03:33 PM.]
