C a d ?

Post by Paul Graupp »

Without getting into a sophisticated Computer Assisted Drawing program, is there something simpler that I could use for drawing kid things for my grandson, Caleb ?

I have been doing somethings with spots from the Webdings and Wingdings formats such as hands and buildings but it is severly limited and I want to expand into such things as trucks and trains and schools buses, all of which are in focus right now for him. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If you have Microsoft Office, it has a basic Draw program (which is different from a paint program like the one included in windows - pbrush.exe). If you don't have Microsoft Office, or even if you do, then you owe it to yourself to check out www.openoffice.org and download the OpenOffice suite. It's basically a clone of the Microsoft suite but it's free - and without all the license crap MS forces you to go through. It's just as good as MS on most things and better on some. Beyond that, there are several free draw programs available for download on the net. You might want to start at www.tucows.com and do a search for "draw". Personally, knowing what I know now, I would go for OpenOffice first.

This sounds like what you need. It's called CatStd Lite and I got it from download.com at:

Thanks, Guys ! I visited both of these locations and they are too advanced for what I had in mind. I do appreciate you both taking the time to inform me of these sites and I have them in memory here on the Forum if I need to come back to them.

Maybe you should just used the Windows PaintBrush. It will do simple "drawings".
