Video Editing

Hey guys:
I've got some problems with rendering my edited video for the Gospel Steel Show this year. The editing is all done and my software won't let me render it as a dvd. I can render as an mpg file. Is there any of you out there that can help me? I used Dazzle last year and am trying Pinnacle Studio 9 this year. I've even imported the pinnace mpg files into Dazzle (DVD Complete) but they are out of sync. once DVD complete processes them. As a mpg file they are not out of sync.

I had the same problem with Pinnacle Studio 8. I fixed it by using Ulead VideoStudio 8. You can download a 30 day free trial (fully functional) and try it out. http://www.ulead.com/vs/runme.htm

It won't capture through Dazzle but you can process the MPEG you've already captured and render to DVD with Ulead.

It worked great for me and I ended up buying the program. Much more stable than Pinnacle.

Thanks for your reply. I am so frustrated as I have spent over 50 hours in editing and working with the video to get it ready. It is a two hour video from our show this year and I am trying to get it "out" of my computer in a usable format.
I will definitely give it a try.

Can you play the video out (in sync) through a composite video and audio output? If so, as a last resort, you might borrow a DVD recorder stand alone unit and record it to DVD that way. Just a thought. Or, if you are using Mini DV and firewire, you can firewire it back out to DV tape and take it to someone who has a DVD recorder and dub it to their DVD recorder...

When rendering your mpeg files, watch for the maximum and average bit rates for the encoding process. mpeg for DVD is satisfactory for us at 6 mbps for the video, leaving 1.5 mbps for the audio and 1.5 mbps for headroom.

DPS Velocity has a default encoding bit rate of 8 mbps and if we forget to back it down to 6.0 (or less) all kinds of goofy things happen. Also, see if you can tell if the audio is being handled at 48,000 or 44,100.

Velocity lets us fiddle with both the video and audio rates, but I don't know what Studio gives ya to change. [This message was edited by Ray Minich on 09 August 2004 at 10:11 AM.]
