Virus question ???

Post by Bob Hickish »

The ISP I use has a filter for virus detection and spam - when I hook up to the Forum this filter will stop on average 3 posable virus eMails -- My Question is - Is it posable to have the Forum members eMail address in the reply section where you would use your pass word to get the address you wanted ?? I have no Idea if this would help or not . I know others are experiencing this as well . any Ideas out there ????

I don't understand. You receive virus emails when you connect to the Forum? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm not to sure what the deal is Bob - the Forum is about the only place I go anymore - and by the time I log off / quit I get a notice that the ISP has trapped some notes - I can look at them through there web site and I have no idea who they are or why - I was only guessing as to where they tagged my address - there was a response on the Forum earlier about a failed mail delivery with the virus in an attachment - I have been getting those but I have not sent any mail -- as they say Go Figure

I logged on to the Forum this morning and go an e-Mail - That was trapped by the Server as virus - This is strange for a Mac .

I have Dumped all cookies and reset Safari - Its possible I picked up a cookie thats doing this - if this clears it up - I will report back either way it goes -

Your email program is not connected to the Forum in any way. I believe that you would have the same results if you connected to the Internet and didn't go to the Forum.

The page that displays a user's email address is generated dynamically on request. It cannot contain a virus.

I think that maybe when you click on the email address it's invoking your email program, which is then automatically downloading any messages that have been waiting at your ISP. The email program is then spotting viruses in your mailbox and alerting you.

That's my best guess at what's happening.
