Are you seeing this too?

Post by Frank Parish »

As of the last couple of days I've got a running advertisement of small pop-ups across the top of my screen when I log onto this site. Is it something I've managed to let in here or is this going to be a continuing thing? How do I get rid of it?
[This message was edited by Frank Parish on 20 June 2004 at 02:56 AM.]

[This message was edited by Frank Parish on 20 June 2004 at 02:57 AM.]

I may have solved this.
I removed a program I didn't know was on here and it seems to have worked at least so far.

Frank,

Go to www.pestpatrol.com and run their free pest scanner. You might be surprised what it finds.

Someone has installed a "cookie" in your computer for advertising purposes. They automatically install in your computer when you visit certain websites.
I downloaded a free program(SpyBot)which I run every few days. It detects these cookies and gives you the option to remove them.
You can locate a download for "spybot" by using a search engine. Type in "download spybot".

The newest version of Norton Internet security also scans for these adware programs and will delete them. You really will be surprised how many you have on your drive. Spybot also does work quite well.
