Virus Hoax ? Bill Findlay

Post by Lyle Bradford »

I keep getting a message labeled virus hoax from Bill Findlay about a virus and about going in and trying to find it and it is emailing everyone in my address folder but i don't have but 4 in it and he is not one of them. Is any one else getting this.?

I'm not sure I fully understand your message, but I think a little bit of information may clear up your problem.

Here is an overview of how many of the recent viruses work. The computer of Person A gets infected by a virus. The virus searches Person A's harddrive for e-mail address, one of these address is for Person B. The virus then sends spam containing viruses to all of the e-mail address it found, but the virus 'spoofs' (fakes) the sender address so the messages appear to be coming from Person B. Therefore some people may incorrectly jump to the conclusion that Person B's computer has been infected with a virus and is sending them spam.

I hope that is helpful.

It has to be something like that Will. The email I got twice was titled in the subject line Virus Hoax. I opened it up and it said I had a virus and needed to go into my computer and find this one icon and click on it and delete it. What was suspicious to me is he was not even in my address book at all. I did not do what it said. Maybe he will see this and let me know something.
