Email Virus in my Name

Email Virus in my Name

I just got Email from Smiley saying he had recieve A Mailer Demon return thingy that looked to be from me.....had half my address right.......lucky he realized and didnt open it as the attatchment contains a Virus.......looks like someone is out to cause trouble
The fake one has my email name but the address was @ eire.com or something similar........Just wanted every one to be aware.....I will also mail all my friends in my address book.

The way these thing works is that if one computer with your address in the address book gets infected, the virus can pick up you name (along with all the rest in there) and use it as a 'sender' address for new virus infected mails. Nasty stuff, and there's no way you can control it yourself, only protect your own computer the best you can.

One hint from me:
NEVER open e-mail attachments unless you know from the sender that it is coming and you are expecting it (usually photos or soundfiles). If somebody wants to send me a program file, I usually ask him to put it on a disc or CD and send it that way. That doesn't work in all cases, but it's still better than having PC problems forever!
The only attachments I usually open are jpg. files (photos). Any attachments that have exe. codes or something similar are programs (or viruses).
