Blurred monitor screen?

Post by ROBERT MYERS »

On Christmas day all was working fine and I installed my new biab present and a game for my grandson. Everything worked great. The next morning I got on to check out the forum and the monitor screen had gray lines through it and everything is kind of blurred. we have tryed restore back before biab and game were installed, didn't change. I pulled video card and cleaned, no help. Hooked up another monitor still same thing. Anyone know what to try next. Thanks for the help in advance.

Clean your glasses? Image Image

Seriously, installing the game may have changed your screen resolution to something your monitor can't handle. You can check and change that by right clicking on your desktop and choosing Properties. If you can't see it well enough for that, reboot into safe mode and set it for something you know will work. If safe mode exhibits the same problems, your video card may have bit the dust.

Robert,

Sounds like you have a bad video card. If you tried another monitor on the PC and still had the same problems, then you can remove the monitor as the problem. All that is left is the video card. Do you have another PC at home? If so, try switching video cards and see if that is it.

Jim & Mark, thanks for your reply. I am using a dell computor but I do have a compaq setting here. Will the video card from it work? If so I will try that tomorrow. That's a lot for your information.

Jesse,

Good suggestion. Check to see if you have any metal or magnet's near the monitor. On the monitor there is usually a button or option called "Degaus". If you can get into a menu from the front panel of your monitor you can access it that way. If you have the option, try that.

Thanks,
Mark
