Ckecking Disc Drive Space?

Post by Roy Thomson »

On my old Windows 95 I could click on Accessories then Drive Space and check.
The format is different with my wifes W 98 and my 2000.
I cannot find how to check the drive space on either?
Can someone show the path?
Thanks so much,
Roy

hi Roy,
I'm on XP, so can't remember back that far :0

I think you can go to

My Computer
right click on the C: drive
select 'properties' from the pull down

you should see a pie chart

you can do this for any single file, or directory as well to see how big they are

I did what you said Chris.
When I click on My Computer
the Window gives me option to click
on either of my Drives. I have 4.
However there is no Properties on the File
pulldown or any of the other headings?
I cannot get to the "pie".
Maybe it's just not supper time yet? Image

If all you want is the total size and the free space, click on My Computer in the left window of Explorer. That information will be listed for each drive in the right window.

At your Windows desktop, right-click on 'My Computer' and choose 'explore'. In the left hand pane, right click on 'Local Disk - C' (or other drive) and choose 'properties'. The pie chart will display.
