New Trojan Alert !!

Post by John P. Phillips »

A friend of mine was hit with a new trojan today. This is no joke !! it's called the penis trojan. norton nor mcaffee will detect it. It was found attached to the start up menu. to check if you have it, go to run, type in msconfig and check your start up list for anything with the word DOGStart (typed exactly that way). This trojan destroys files. I have no other information about it yet but will post information as soon as I get it. Another friend who is a computer security expert is trying to help her get rid of it. I know this is a weird name for a trojan but there are all kinds out there. I typed the words penis trojan in my serch bar and got limited information from google.
As you've heard many times, be careful opening attachments in e-mail !!!

This is an old DOS virus from pre-internet days. I found the source code to it, written in assembler. It could be compiled into an EXE file with any file name.

It sounds to me like someone added some modern features to make it Windows-compatible and re-deployed it. It's very dangerous. It trashes your hard disk.

Never run email attachments.

It can't be said often enough: Protect your PC. Protect your PC. Protect.......

I run Zone Alarm Pro firewall and Norton anti virus, and still don't trust emails from people I don't know. Even if there's no attachment I am careful with what I open, as some viruses can be implemented in pictures embedded in the mail. One day you might catch a virus that the firewall/virus program hasn't been updated to discover yet.....
