can't receive certain e-mail gifs , signatures,

Post by John Hawkins »

I have a friend that sends me some gifs, signatures, photos and the like .

I cannot open most if not all, of the things he sends in his message like the items listed above . All I get are square outlines with a red X in the corner . Those blank outlines are suppose to be a signature , or a gif of some kind or a photo .

This is the only one who sends me messages and that I cannot view the pictures . His printed message is always viewable . My computer is set on HTML Format . If his is not , could that account for the problem ?

Would someone be kind enough to advise me what I should suggest to this person as to either a new setting on his computer and the way to do it or something so that I can open
his pictures ?

As I said , he is the only one I have that trouble with so I don't think it is my settings that are causing the problem .

Thanks !!

I would suggest that he convert the pics to a jpeg format before he sends them. Most computers read jpeg files.

Maybe one of you is using AOL and they are incompatible? Maybe the server that processes the mail strips off all html as a security measure? My new ISP is so "no frills" that I can't send mail out from my Outlook Express. It comes back as forbidden "forwarding". I have to send from the web mail.
