Having AOL problems....

Post by George Keoki Lake »

To my many friends using AOL, (including Bill Stafford)...let it be known I am having a problem sending messages to anyone on AOL. This is a recent occurance which my son is trying to solve. Sure is a mystery as to why it is only AOL which is being affected, all others are ok. Just know, while I am thinking of you, I cannot contact any of you on your AOL server.

I have a similar problem.

Messages to Ronald B. bounced.
See http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum7/HTML/002420.html

He's on AOL. The rest of my email works OK.
I've given up on it, but would be interested to hear if you find a solution.

If you or whoever on AOL your sending to has recently upgraded to the new "Optimized 9.0" version...>there are still some bugs....as the mail preferences are not particularly set as we are accustomed to.
They may have a block on somethings..and not know it...
In the Mail settings it should be "By Default, show me mail from "Everyone" and NOT from "People I know"

I'm still on AOL 6.0 and lately people have been telling me that their emails to me have bounced back...

I just tested email to Jim. No problem.
Email to Ron B. still bounces.

error message:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">quote:</font><HR><SMALL>"Final-Recipient: RFC822; rballister@aol.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.1.1
Remote-MTA: DNS; air-xg01.mail.aol.com
Diagnostic-Code: SMTP; 550 rballister IS NOT ACCEPTING MAIL FROM THIS SENDER
Last-Attempt-Date: Sat, 4 Oct 2003 10:11:26 -0400 (EDT)"</SMALL><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

It's not a problem for me, just providing info.

Thanx guys...apparently it must be my computer. My son will reformat the whole ball-o-wax in the hopes this will cure the problem.

Actually it is no computers fault. It is an AOL problem. Where I work, my email server has been sending me back AOL messages. So, if someone from my office was trying to send out an email to personsname@aol.com only sometimes would it work. I finally called the AOL emailservice and was forwarded onto the IT dept. They said they are having HUGE issues with incoming routing and it should be resolved by 10/3/2003. I think they have it solved now...haven't seen any rejected messages in 3 days!

I wish I could have posted this earlier, but my work schedule has been CRAZY and I have had almost no time to check out the forum...sorry.

Thanks!
Mark
