Will DR 5 work w/ Band-In-A-Box?

Post by Kevin Chriss »

I'm trying to get Band-In-A-Box to play through my Boss DR 5. I have the proper cable coming from my Sound Blaster card to the MIDI port on the DR 5. Have any of you guys been successful with this setup?

I can't give you specific information on these products but I can tell you that you might read the midi implementation chart of BIAB. It will tell you if it transmits midi note numbers. If it does you just need to set things correctly for notes to send and receive respectively for each unit.

Kevin, although I never plugged a DR-5 into my sound card I did run a Midi only keyboard into one and used it as the "tone generator". So a Dr-5 can be externally triggered. However as the previous poster stated you would need to match up the midi note numbers so when BIAB says snare drum your not hearing xylophone. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the info. I'll keep trying. I'd like to buy a alesis Datadisk for the DR5 if I can find one pretty cheap.

If you want to save data to floppy you might look at a used Brother PDC100 sequencer.
