Danger - Bugus MS Patch in Email
I've received a number of emails recently proporting to be from Microsoft. They have a program attached that you're supposed to run to update your Windows, fix a bug, or whatever. The message and exact sender address varies.
This is totally bogus. Microsoft does NOT send out patches in email. If you get one of these emails, delete it immediately.
I don't know what the program does if you run it, but it can't be a good thing.

i received several from various sources (mostly recent email recipients) with "Microsoft Patch" in the subject. My Norton deleted the attachment immediately.

There's a sample of the bogus message, and instructions on how to tell it's fake on this Microsoft site: http://www.microsoft.com/security/antivirus/authenticate_mail.asp

Well..at the risk of being called "stupid"..and "not so lucky"..I'm gonna go ahead and admit that I fell for that sucker! What it did? It has rendered my "nortan" as disfunctional! Not only that, but I now am unable to check my email; I talked with someone from Comcast yesterday..and she helped me get it going again. But last night, it went down on me again! It'll be a cold day in hell before I fall for that again!
