Internet Connection

Post by Paul King »

I am having problems connecting and staying on the internet. Sometimes I can get on and sometimes I may be on for 5 minutes and lose the connection. I have tried 3 or 4 different virus discs and nothing has worked. I am trying to download from Microsoft but I keep losing the connection. Just wondering if any of you have encountered the same problem and if so how you fixed it....Paul King

Paul, I eliminated that problem by cancelling my telephone connection and contracting for cable! If you don't have that option, I don't know what the solution could be.

Most likely the problem is noise on the phone line.

If you can't take the option that Gene suggested, then you might talk with the phone company about a line filter or better yet, DSL.

Try a different modem.

Long ago I had the same problem with a USR Sportster. I called USR Tech support, they sent me a new chip, and the problem was resolved.

I now, thankfully, have a DSL connection.
