Scanning Outgoing E-Mail?

Post by Roger Shackelton »

My Nortons anti-virus program is scanning my outgoing mail. If I send a song attachment 2.24 mb it takes a very long time to scan before the message and attachment are sent.(30+ minutes) I have dial up Internet access and I am running Windows XP. Can I safely turn off the outgoing scan.?

If you scan your computer OFTEN with "Nortons anti-virus program" then you should be virus free... in which case you shouldn't need to scan OUTGOING e-mail.
(I am presuming you have acurrent version, and, are using Live Update.
There is a very good On-Line free virus and Trojan Hourse check at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall
