Anti Virus question
Do we still like PC-cillin? My McAfee (oem w/ new computer) updates have expired and I'm trying to decide between Norton 2003 and PC-cillin. What's the expert (and non-expert) opinion?

I use Norton 2002 and am very pleased ! I'll go Norton 2003 when my subscription expires this Dec. They have gotten their program to operate automatically on defination updates and the rest is very user friendly .

Try AVG...I've had both Norton & MacCaffee
in the past, and after a while you gotta
cough up more beans to keep the things running.
AVG is uncomplicated, free, and let's you know right on the program's startup screen
whether or not an update is needed.
Updates are free; for now, anyway.
Very user-friendly.
[This message was edited by CHIP FOSSA on 19 May 2003 at 11:25 AM.]

Chip, I too use the AVG anti virus program and it's free, furthermore, it updates automatically at least 1 time a week. It has caught every single virus that makes it through my ISP and that is several. As Chip said it is free, simple to use and unlike McAfee it doesn't 'take over' your entire computer. You guys can find it at www.grisoft.com. Terrific program IMO.

I finally broke down and purchased the Norton Internet security 2003. I find it to be the real deal..You can configure it to your own liking or use the defaults..
Whatever program you get be sure it sweeps all of your EMAILS , both directions, incoming and sending, and sweeps your hard drive on a regular basis as well.
The Internet security features are also
quite elaborate.
good luck

I use the McAfee antivirus product. It is a little complicated at first, but once you get over the learning curve then it is OK.
One thing to think about when selecting an Antivirus software package is how fast do these companies get out updates against the latest virus attacks. When the KLEZ virus came out, I heard stories of some less reputable companies taking 2-3 days to come up with an update! Imagine 2-3 days of being unprotected from that nasty one. McAfee had a update out in hours...that is why I prefer them, they are very quick with their updates and also the documentation on how to remove virus attacks is great.
