Windows Media Player to fast

Post by LARRY COLE »

My Windows Media Player is playing everything form CD's to MPS's at a higher pitch and i think faster. Is there a fix for this? I am not sure if it is in the player or sound card. I only notice it on the player.

Larry,

What version of Windows Media Player do you have? I know that the latest version has fixed this issue. I have it happen sometimes to computers at work, I download the new version of Windows Media Player and it is fine. Also, if I use a different app, such as WinAmp, the problem is not there. Kind of goofy...

Most CDROM drives have headphone jacks in the front, so try listening to a CD that way. If it still plays too fast, seems like it would have to be your CDROM drive. I've never heard of that happening, but I guess anything is possible. Image

I used the headphones without using the Windows media player and it seems to work right. I downloaded the newer version today and it didn't change it so I done a system restore. I am running version 9.0.0.2980.

Check some settings.
Go to View/Enhancments/play speed settings.....and make sure the "snap slider to common speeds" is checked.
Normal play speed should be 1.0

I've fixed this problem in the past by updating the drivers for the soundcard. The easiest way to do this is to remove the soundcard in the Control Panel (Add/Remove Hardware) and then reinstall it with updated drivers. After you remove it, you could even just restart your computer and it will detect the sound device. If you run into any problems, give me a shout.

IT'S FIXED!.Thanks everyone for the help. I done what Mike said and removed the sound card drivers and restarted it and it was fixed. It had AC97 drivers and it changed them to Sound Max drivers. Now Randy Travis don't sound like Alvin.
