Burner software & sound card

Post by Matt Martin »

Does anyone know what would be the best combo for CD burning and sound card. I would like the capability of transfering turntable,
tape deck, etc. Or would any sound card work
with a specific burning software??

Matt,

Take a look at this post from a couple of weeks ago...

Also, do a search in the computer section and you should find a TON of material on this subject.

Happy Pickin'

I recommend (but have no fiscal association with) "NERO, the burning ROM", from Ahead Software. Not a single glitch, ever! Very easy to learn & use...About $50, a steal IMHO. Here's the "ALL FEATURES" of NERO webpage: http://www.nero.com/en/#c1022860657460
And hey, good luck...

I'll second that vote for Nero. I have NEVER made a coaster yet with the application and I have been using it for over a year now! With Roxio, I was making coasters about every 8-10 burns. Roxio also started to get funky with WinXP and Win2K on my systems. I was tired of searching the net for patches and registry edits to solve the problems. Just my opinion...

Thanks for the help guys!! Yea, Roxio is getting a bit funky on 2000PRO. But what about hooking up turntables and decks and things like that. Do I just plug into the sound card???

Matt:
Best bet is to get yourself a used stereo receiver from your friendly neighborhood pawn shop, hook your cassete, turntabe etc. up to it and then run an RCA stereo "Y" connector with a 1/8 mini plug to a 1/8 mini (jack on each end) extension cable and then into your computer line-out.

Not all soundcards have a stereo line in. Some, like mine, are mono. Image

I bought a 48X TDK burner from Costco. It includes Nero as well. I too am very happy with Nero.

If you want to transfer your vinyl record
collection to CD you`ll need a RIIA filter.
Either as a built-in unit in your preamp with
a phono input or as a stand-alone box.
Just plugging a turntable into a soundcard
will not work.
Maybe take a look at Steve Hinsons`s thread
from the 29. Dec in this section.

I bought the same setup. Can't wait to try it out. I'm also putting a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platimum unit in the same computer.
