Switching phone lines for DSL

My son is moving out tommorrow 11/16/02 and taking his phone number with him. Our DSL is on that line and we've already signed up for a new isp tied to our own phone number.

The tech came here to switch the line, but no one was home and the gate was locked. Now it's the reschedule hassle.

It would seem to be a simple thing to do it myself. Open the access doors and change a couple of wires to another terminal. As it is dark out now I'll have to look at it tommorrow.

Question-is this so? Just in case I'm wrong I'd appreciate any help.

This DSL line quits tonight at 12PM and I'll be (choke) disconnected till the new one gets up and running.

I can access at work Monday, so I'll check for help at that time.
