Webtv
would someone clue me in to Webtv. I never
heard of it until the other day when I emailed a person using Web Tv. It came back with the explaination that his cache was full and couldn't hold any more.
Do they have a printer? I have a couple up to date computers here so am not interested in going that direction. I'de think, tho, that with computers getting so reasonable, that Web Tv folks would go for a real computer. You know, with printer, scanner and all the trimmings.

Unless a person does not have a computer, WebTV is a bad choice.
Some hotels now have it, better than no internet. There's no Hard Drive in your system, so no management issues.
Smiley uses it.

As a former WebTV user i can say it is great for basic surfing, newsgroups, discussion forums, secure online purchases, and email. Yes, there is printer capability. It is woefully outdated and some webs sites are not accessable. Still, if you like instant web access from your bed, nothing beats it. There are no Windows to load (therefore no pop-ups), and there is no fan so operation is silent. However, considering it's current defficiencies the subscription rate (20-25 dollars) is not justifiable.

I've had webtv for a couple years and it has advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is no viruses. I use to pay $24.75 per month. After MSN bought them out, I was able to sign up with MSN-on-line AND Webtv for $9.95 per month. Only certain printers are compatable with webtv. I use a Hewlett-Packard deskjet 610 CL (color). Webtv has sound capability (receiving) and limited sound sending.

I have Web TV and a computer at home and a computer at work with DSL.
It's very simple...WEB TV is very convenient, since you can shift between television shows and the internet effortlessly (couch potato heaven!)
It connects to a printer and you never have to worry about downloads/viruses cause there's no hard drive per se.
It is quite slow compared to everything else but makes an EXCELLENT alternative for someone who might be computer-shy.
It's also a pretty small investment to get started on the internet ($99 gets a basic unit).
