I'm new at this and got an email to delete a file by hand the file was "jdbgmgr.exe", i deleted it and got an email saying this was a hoax, does anybody know how I can restore this file and what effect it will have

Jim,

Don't worry, that file is just a debugger for a old version of Java. You probably will never use it unless you write programs in the language Java. However, here is a link on how to restore that file. <A HREF=http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... us;Q322993" TARGET="_BLANK">Restore File</A>

Yeah,

The virus hoaxes are getting almost as bad as the virus' themselves.

Just for future reference though, you can always go to Norton's website and check a virus' authenticity before you start deleting stuff.

Microtrend has an free online virus scan on their site. Just for a little added peace of mind. Here's the URL for the free online scan. http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
