Paul Franklin's "Looking Back" CD problem

Post by Jim Smith »

I have really been enjoying Paul's compilation CD's but am having a problem. Image This afternoon I was making copies (for my own use) to put in my van's CD changer of all the CD's I bought at St. Louis this year.

All the CD's copied just fine except for CD #1 of Paul's "Looking Back". Roxio 5 causes an exception when scanning track 12 which forces me to exit the application. When it happens, the CD burner also seems to lock up as I have to reboot to get the CD to eject.

This happened at least six times and I have been able to copy other CD's both before and after this one with no problems. Has anyone else been able to copy this CD? Image The CD plays fine, I'd just like to have a backup copy of it.

Maybe it's got some of that new copy-protection scheme code embedded on it. The record companies don't want you making copies for yourself or anyone else.

Rob, I doubt that any steel player would have the resources to put copy protection on a CD, there's just not enough of a market. Plus, I was able to copy the second CD of the set with no problem.

I'll take the CD to my brother's tomorrow and see how it acts with his burner.
