Audio format for web page?
What is the most efficient audio format, size-wise, to use for background music on a web page?
Having gotten involved with helping my good lady build a web page (about which neither of us know much), I've already learned that wav and mp3 files are waaay too big for what I have in mind. The mid format seems to work well, i.e. a long tune with a short download time. Is there a way to convert other formats to mid? Is there a better choice?
Thanks for your help.

I am with Jim on this one. I really dislike websites with background music. Most of the time the files need to be soooo small, that the music ends up being some stupid keyboard song.
If it were me, I would avoid the BG music.
