morpheus

Post by Ken Williams »

I would like to uninstall morpheus but every time I try there is a message that says that it cannot uninstall because it's in use. I do not have the program open when I'm trying to uninstall. Any suggestions?

Ken -

I'm going to assume you are using Windows 9x or Me.

If you go to START|PROGRAMS|STARTUP hopefully you will not see any reference to Morpheus. If you do, Morpheus should be sitting in your System Tray. If it is, kill it and try to uninstall. If that does not work, then keep reading.

From the START|RUN line type msconfig and click OK. Go to the Startup tab and look for anything that relates to Morpheus and uncheck it. Then look at the WIN.INI tab. Click on the + next to the first entry [windows]. Look at the first two lines, run= and load= if either of those reference morpheus, they you have to edit that line to remove the reference.

I don't believe you will find anything in either the Autoexec.bat or Config.sys tabs.

If you made any changes, click OK and then you have to reboot the machine. That should keep Morpheus from starting up. Try uninstalling yet again. If you still have that same message, do the 3-finger salute (CNTL-ALT-DELETE) and look at the programs running. Find the Morpheus listing and end that task and one more time, attempt to uninstall.

One of those things should work.

Let me know if it doesn't.

Thanks for the help guys. John I tried the CTL-ALT-DEL thing and then successfully uninstalled the program. You can close this thread.
