REMOVE NAVIDAD virus

Post by Everett Cox »

I had posted this for Janice Brooks on the temporary EZboard forum. Although I have not tried it, myself, the folks at Trend have always provided good products/solutions.

Hey Janice-- Hope you notice this post befor you bother to reformat! Check out Trend's antivirus site. They have an easy way to clear your Windows Registry of the virus' entries. You can then clean your folders/files with their online system. Their virus protection program has been great for me and they have frequent updates and send info to keep people alerted to new dangers. The online scan/clean will take some extra time, though, as they must do a temporary download/install of their files. Once started, the actual scan goes fairly quick. --Everett

Sorry folks - I hadn't noticed the virus prevented many programs from running. As was stated in Joe's previous reply, certain Windows Registry entries must be corrected in order to begin the process of cleaning the bug.

The TREND people have provided a small program which will make the changes to the Registry. (Editing the Registry can be difficult and dangerous for most of us.) I can email or snail-mail the file for those who cannot otherwise get their Registry corrected.
