Case Speaker??
Back in the 60's I bought a "tranducer that made any flat surface into a speaker!" I screwed it into my hollow core closet door and hook it up to my stereo..It worked, but sounded terrible! If with "modern technology" they could make the surface of your steel case into an acceptable speaker you could lighten your load...You have to take it anyway, then it sits 'til you leave!!!! Any Edisons out there? JS

Nope! The average steel case weighs just as much as the average 15" speaker, so you wouldn't be saving anything except the weight of the speaker...and, making quite a sacrifice in fidelity. If with "modern technology" they could make the surface of your steel case into an acceptable speaker you could lighten your load.
They can build a good, light, 250-watt amp with two 15" speakers right now, with current technology.
They just need some incentive!

John,
I got it down, now, where I've eliminated the steel guitar case altogether; going to gigs.
Just did a wedding gig this past July 8.
I have a full size C-20 '95 Chevy van that is my work vehicle, but also doubles as my gig van.
I simply use the steel cover that came with the Williams and lash it down with bungie cords. Works great. Shows up in tune, too; a few tweaks, here and there, and I'm all set to go. Amps and other 'boxy' gear, placed in front of the steel, insure she ain't going to flip over. It's very secure.
Sure saves time; especially on the load-out.
