Fender Twin problems

Post by Gibson Hartwell »

My Fender Twin Custom 15 gave me some problems this last weekend. I went to turn it on and the power light just gave a quick flash. I checked the fuse and it appeared fine. Had to play the steel through the 6 string amp (6v6 tubes on steel, yuck!). After the first set the amp powered up fine. I let it warm up for a minute before taking it off standby. When I did this the power light went out again...totally dead.

Of course when I turned the thing on at home the next morning it worked just fine. Arg.

Might just be a hairline crack in the power fuse. Very hard to see. Test it with an ohm meter.

Did you check the AC cord? There might be a
slight break inside it somewhere. Next thing
may be a bad switch making intermitent contact.
Other than those, you'll have to "check under
the hood" to investigate furthur.
