Fender V/T wt TS-9

Post by Garry Vanderlinde »

When I try to use a Ibanez TS-9 distortion pedal in line before a Fender volume/tone pedal the up/down volume works fine but the side/side tone doesn't work at all. Does anyone know why?

Garry, it's probably an impedance issue. The output of the enabled Tubescreamer is low and also actively buffered. The passive tone control in the Fender V/T pedal wants to "see" a pickup for it to act as a tone control. It's the nature of a passive, guitar-type tone control. See if that's the case.

I've discovered that a Fender V/T Pedal will not effect the Tone if it follows any effect containing a Buffered Pre~Amp., such as an Izzy+ or Kleen~Kick or Goodrich Match Box or Rack-Components.

Yes, I also found a similar problem when using a Super-Bro dobro simulator in front of a Bigsby Tone/Volume pedal.
The Super-Bro didn't work at all, like it was not plugged in. Totally transparent.
It only worked when placed AFTER the V/T pedal. And then of course the Super-Bro didn't function properly.
BUT, when I used a Fender V/T pedal in the normal position after the Super-Bro, in place of the Bigsby, the Super-Bro functioned normally. The Fender V/T functioned normally also.
So why didn't the Fender pedal work the same as the Bigsby?
Are the Bigsby and the Fender V/T different Impedance?

Is there a way to change the Impedance of a stomp box?
[This message was edited by Garry Vanderlinde on 11 May 2006 at 11:21 PM.]
