112 vs 1000

Shopping for a new amp: have been running my Carter D-10 through a Fender Stage 160. Although the sound of the 160 is great with the Strat and Fender violin, I'm very dissatisfied with its performance with the Carter. So, I'm looking for some opinions and discussion - and I figured I could get 'em both here - on the 112 versus the 1000. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Michael,
A couple of questions to consider:
1. How strong (or sore) is your back?
2. Do you/will you play mostly large-room or outdoor gigs where you routinely need a lot of power?
If the answer to No. 1 leans more to the “sore” category like me, get a 112 (43 lbs). If the answer to No. 2 is “yes”, get a 1000 (57 lbs). Both are great combo amps. Combine that with Mr. Mike Brown and Peavey’s mucho rapido service and I don’t think you can go wrong with either model. The 15” speaker in the 1000 may be more rich sounding, especially in the lows, but the 112 has a surprisingly full sound as well – and it’s also LOUD for an 85-watt SS amp. If you need more volume, get a second 112 and slave one to the other.
I would suggest doing a search here on the Forum for the many reviews on both amps, especially the 112. Then I would try to find a dealer or player in the area who has both and try ‘em out with your guitar. Then you and your back will know for sure.

I have one of each. I've had the 1000 for a couple of years, the 112 for about 6 months. I much prefer the sound of the 1000, it is much smoother than the 112 and even smoother and a more preferable sound than the Evans FET 500 I recently sold. But the 1000 is a big and heavy amp, so if carrying/transport is an issue, I'd go with the 112. The 112 has surprisingly good sound and fullness, and I have used it on one gig as well as rehearsals, but it IS an 12" speaker. But for sound quality alone, go with the 1000.
You cannot go wrong with either.

I've got a 1000 and a 112. I bought the 112 February of last year (2005). Since I've had the 112 that is all I've used, except one job and that was only because the 1000 hadn't been used for almost a year.

Please note that the Nashville 1000 is rated at 300 watts of power and the Nashville 112 is rated at 80 watts of power. Go to a steel show if one is somewhat close to you-it will be a lot faster than trying to find a dealer with a NV112 or NV1000 in stock- these amps are in great demand nowdays.

Thanks - picked up the 1000. Nice amp, but those George L pickups on the Carter do not sound particularly good through the thing - and they didn't sound too good through the Fender either. Just picked up a rack EQ and am trying to figure out the next step.

Michael, try this..

Bass 1:00 or 2:00

Mids 9:00 or less

Mids shift around 800
(This is whats giving you the grief)..

Pres and treb maybe 1:00

I really like these amps as well but for my taste they are very strong in the mids...as compared to the N400's and Session 400's I use...

I am on my 3rd Carter and I believe it's more related to PUPS than the guitar. George L E66/10:1 on 2 of them and now George L Eons on the current one..

One suggestion I'll make to Peavey about the NV1000 now that I own one: Geez, put some damn WHEELS on that thing!

and a small engine wouldn't hurt, either
