I have a 65 Fender Twin Reverb RI w/2 12" speakers. The manual says the amp is 4 ohm. Will using the extention speaker jac with a 8 ohm speaker plugged into it cause any problems?

Bump up for George.

I'll bet one of our resident Forum techs could answer this question.

George, with the original speakers in the amp, it already has a 4ohm load. Another 8ohm load would be 8 plus 4 divided by 3 speakers which makes 3 ohms I think. i was once told on SS amps you can drop the load way down to almost nothing, but not on a tube amp. Just the 8 ohm load would be better. Or hook up one twelve and the 8 ohm external speaker.

Lee, thanks for the bump.

Craig, I see what you mean, using the 15" alone. I hadn't thought of that. I also have two 12's in another cabinet and they work great together with the two 12's in the amp (= 4x12's). I wanted to try a 15" to see what kind of differance it would make ie: some of the people have been doing away with 12's in their amp and going with one 15", but didn't want to chance screwing up anything if I plugged it in.

BTW, wish I could make it down for the QC, it looks like it's going to be great, but I have other commitments. I sure had a great time in Wisconsin Rapids. Hope to see you and the rest of the folks (& bannana guy Image )in Hinckley.
