I'M thinking about buying a Delay unit and wanted to know if a Digital Delay will work on a Nashville 400? Thanks for your help. Leon

don't be afraid to search for a good used one in the Pawn shops or EBAY.... I am not totally clear as to why everyone feels the DD3's are king, I do think the are fine..I purchased an Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo pedal a few years back for $25..It was part of my rig up until I switched to the rack mount.
I found it to be an excellent unit and I still use it now and then...It has a switch that allows Analog or Digital Delay or Echo effects..
I swapped it around with my friends Boss unit and pretty much could not tell the difference, other than the color of the Pedal...
3 knobs : Delay Time, Repeats, Delay Level
Two outputs: Effect and Dry

Like Tony said, shop around for a good pedal at a good price, and if your not happy with it sell it and try another. There are some good delays out there and like most of us you may try numerous pedals before you find one YOU realy like, but knowing how to use one is half the game, and i don't think it matters what amp you have. Leon, the difference in the 3 Boss pedals is..DD-3 has adjustable delay
DD-5 is the same, but has an extra input that a footswitch can be attached to use the tap delay function.
DD-6 has the tap delay function installed
I have never used the tap delay function. Outside of this, there are many good digital delays out there. I have used the Digitech Digi-delay, Ibanez DL-5 Soundtank, DOD DFX-9, and Rocktron Retro Delay. They are all great pedals and cost less than the Boss units. "My preference" in order would be Ibanez, DOD, Rocktron, Boss, & Digitech. Just me two cents worth!

I used a DD5 for a long time (about 10 years). I was going to buy a DD3 but the store didn't have one and offered to sell the DD5 for the same price as the DD3 so I bought it. It has worked great and I still have it and only reason I'm not using it is that I'm now using a POD XT.
The DD-5 DOES have the tap tempo function built in, it doesn't need an external switch as previously mentioned. The DD5 has been discontinued and replace by the DD6. The DD5 does not have "stereo" (two) outputs where the DD6 does have two outputs. I don't think there is much other difference.
I never used the tap tempo function on mine, other than just playing around with it. On stage, I'm too busy starting the song to have time to also do the tap tempo.

I had a 5, it had more things it did than I needed, all I use is delay, the 5 even records, some think the 6 is better. I have 3 dd3' one for me, one for Nan, and a spare, that is all i use with the amp, and like the sound. I tried a Profex 2, and found the delay gives me all the extra sound I need. A lot of the pros only use a delay.Yes it will work with any amp. What it does is give you a delayed sound and I think your sound will sound larger, that is the only way I know to explain it.

Thanks Jack for the correction. As I mentioned, the tap function is something I was never interested in using. I know where the input, output, & on switches are at. That alone is pretty confusing enough for a Cajun down here!
