Hi Gary, You probably find out that your question is very subjective to each steelers personal taste but I can recommend a few brands that you just can't go wrong with. You should always try them out at a music store before buying and never buy one on someone else's advice that's a good way to lose a friend LOL.
Boss/Roland is the industries leader and one of the first big companies to make them good and pretty inexpensive. They have a stereo chorus that goes all the way back to 75 and I think the name of it was the "Roland Chorus ensemble" and it was a tank big and grey. I had one and it was a killer chorus. Well now they make one that can emulate just about any chorus they have ever made it's called the "Chorus ensemble" or CE-5.
Someone has already mentioned TC Electronics and they can't be beat but dig out your wallet they aren't cheap.
Or buy a Pod XT they model just about every cool chorus ever produced by all the giants and they are priced very reasonable and I think someone has one for sale in the "items for sale thread". Then you would have it all.
Boss also makes an all in one floor unit called the GT-8 that's what I use and it has so many different models of choruses that it will make your head swim and with it you also get every effect under the sun although it's a little higher than the Pod but in my old burned out ears it does sound significantly better but I'm sure you will hear others say the Pod sounds better.
Well I hope that at least get's you some info to digest.

Although I never tried it when I owned one, BOSS had a Stereo~Chorus CH–1, which was a Stomp~Box Unit. It was quiet and sounded good, but; I never got around to using it with (2)-Amplifiers! Sorry ’bout that!

"Big Bob" is right. This was one of the best ones made,<u>IF</u> you can find one.<SMALL>"..."Roland Chorus ensemble"..."</SMALL>
Another one is the reasonably priced Ibanez CS9 stomp box,if you can find one. I could never understand why, when companies have a successful product, they try to make a "new & improved" model. Then, when the "n. & i." model doesn't make it,they don't bring back the old model. It all goes back to the ol' saying,"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!"
Its just like the Peavey ProFex II. I've seen several people get the "TubeFex",& the "TransTubeFex",only to sell them,& go back to the "ProFex II". Now,you can't get ANY of them. The only thing I would've changed on the "ProFex II" was to put the input AND output controls on the front of the unit,& "hardwire" the a.c. cord instead of a "wall wart". Aside from that, this was one of the BEST & MOST COMPLETE units, for steel, that I ever saw. I own 2 of them, one "stock",& one modified.
