New Fender Twin ?
We are doing a show in Savannah Ga Sat afternoon for ST PATRICK'S DAY and I was advised today that the sound company will be providing stage equipment in an effort to keep the music rolling so I was told I would be using a new style fender twin. My ? is.... Is anyone using this amp here on the forum? If so can you share some settings that I can write down so when I get in front of it I can set it and go?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm pretty sure Ricky Davis always uses a Fender Twin...might email him and ask.

Ricky Davis does not use a new Twin. He uses an older one thats been modified for sound improvement the last time I asked him. I've used one of the new Twins. They are underpowered by themselves. Two hooked together work fine. If you are going to use one I would suggest cranking the bass up snd keeping the treble about two.
[This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 14 March 2006 at 02:46 PM.]

With any 2x12 Twin I use something like: Bass 7, Mid 5.5, Treble 3, Presence 2, Bright off; Reverb around 4 for fast numbers, and around 7 for slow numbers. The problem for steel with the Reissue Twin is that it is modeled after the old black-face Twin, and so has limited clean headroom compared to most steel amps. If you play a big room with a loud band, you may need to mic it or use two.

I always ask for a new reissue 65 twin for back line if the gig is using rental gear. They sound great and are consistant. My settings are a little wierd but work best for me.
treble 4
mids 10
bass 4
brite switch off
If I'm playing a club that has one I don't bring my steel king because the new twins sound better anyway and I'm getting lazy. I do bring along my holy grail reverb though.
They are plenty loud for gigs I get.

Yes Kevin is correct; I was using a 1970 Fender Twin(well until it was stolen); but many times I'll play a festival or whatnot and there is backline there and usually they are the new reissue 65 twin and also used one on the "Live in London" Dale Watson CD and they work just fine.
My settings are generally around>
Volume 5
Treble 4
Mid 3
Bass 6
Reverb 4
Bright switch sometimes on sometimes off.
There are other variables; like what kind of steel and pickup you have; and what volume pedal and/or pot and what is in line to the amp and what kind of cords you use; that will make a number variable here and there; on those general settings....ha.
But if you have a sound in your head that you already learned how to obtain with your present gear..than you should have no problem getting it on loaner stuff(that's all I play now....Loaners...ha)

Sorry, Gene. I got the Twin confused with my Super Twin, which does have a Presence knob. But other than that, the settings I gave are what I use for a starting point with a Twin and 2x12. And like was said above, everything matters. For example, I use an 0.012 on my E9 3rd string, and so I need a little less treble than someone might who uses the traditional 0.011.
And BTW, for a Twin (or Dual) head with a 15" speaker I use something like Bass 3, Mid 8, Treble 3, which is similar to what John B. likes on his Custom 15.
[This message was edited by David Doggett on 16 March 2006 at 05:35 PM.]

Amp worked out great. Best sound I think I ever had live outside. There was this tech... an african american guy... really cool... He came up to me after our 90 min set and said he didn't like country music but he could not quit tapping his feet. He said we rocked the palce. I guess the other 200,000 people thought so too. A very special time for the band. One of those truly MAGICAL moments that make memories.
Awesome to every extent. Thanks for all the replies' the settings worked great. My guitar with the 710 mated well with the Fender. It just exploded everywhere. Great time great sound company... Gotta go must be @ next gig in 1 1/2 hours.
