Wah and Volume

Post by Jim Ives »

Does anybody use a wah and volume combined pedal? If so, which one and how do you like it?
Thanks,

Fender V/W/F...Had it updated with the cb of a Morley installed for the wah and a cb from a Rat2 for the fuzz.
Volume goes up/down like a steel guitar pedal and the wah is in the side/side motion like a regular volume/tone pedal.
With the Wah off it functions like a normal volume/tone pedal.
I like it because the wah's volume is controllable with the normal up/down motion
[This message was edited by Garry Vanderlinde on 04 March 2006 at 12:42 PM.]

Just a note--the stock version of this Fender (which I scored in excellent condition out of a trash can !!) has the wah going up & down and the volume going side-to-side---not an easy muscle-memory transition. Good job on the alteration, Gary. If I am ever tempted to put mine to use (I have other stuff to take care of wah but not a 2-in-1 pedal like this) I will probably do something similar, as far as swapping out the movement functions.

As a general warning, do not even consider a DOD FX-17 wah-volume. Crap. Useless jerky active volume control, acceptable but not very toneful wah. Poor compromise, all around.

I have a Morley, works good, except can't run an FX unit through it. So I just use it for my Strat, the amp I use for it has built in fx's.
But I do like the tone it puts out on my PSG, to bad the Pro-Fex II doesn't work through it tho, bummer.

Jon,
I've not seen the innards of the VolFuzWah, but can't help wonder if it might be as uncomplicated as taking the two or three leads from each pot and 'swapping' where they go between the 'sideways' and 'up & down' pots.

I think the pot values are quite different from each other. I don't remember for sure. So swapping the pots in the stock Fender V/F/T pedal is what you have to do to switch the volume to up/down and the wah to side/side. It's lots of fun Image

Yeah, Russ-Garry beat me to it. That is what I would have guessed. And the fun, as he describes it, is what I would have guessed too. Having mastered the steel guitar as well as every other thing in life, I am one step closer to spending the time on this conversion........um, not.....

Nothing like an extra 5 pound load in the pakkaseat, though.
