Dead spot on VP

I've had my Goodrich in reserve since I got my Hilton. Well, I tried it out yesterday just to see if it still worked and and lo and behold there is a dead spot just about at the wide open end of the travel. Is there anything that I can do to clear it up or is the pot shot?

Any advise or help would be appreciated.

You can try rocking the pedal back and forth through the dead spot. If it's just "dirty" that MAY clean it up. If it doesn't help then ultimately you will have to replace the pot.

Thanks Jack. I worked it for four hours yesterday at a jam and it didn't clear up.

In my opinion, it won't matter how many hours you exercise the v/p if you don't cross over the dead~spot. Under normal use, you probably never had the pedal on full-volume, so; there would be no chance of working out the dead spot that way. I guess you would have to turn the pot wide~open over and over to clear it! If it were me, I'd open the pot and spray it with the best cleaner available, such as Lube~Job, IMHO! That's what I do. It's really disheartening nowadays!

You really need to remove the cover to clean a pot. Spraying stuff around the shaft doesn't get to where the problem usually is.

John, you are correct that I rarely if ever use that much travel but I did work it with it wide open many times when I got home and again today.

Donny, I'll try to take it apart and try that. If I break it I'm not out anything cause the way it is not satisfactory.
