Question on Nashville 400

Can anybody tell me the difference between those with the silver corner caps and those with the black ones?? I recently got one with the silver caps, and I have a chance of buying one with the black caps.My pal who is selling to me said the speaker is not ribbed which according to someone on the forum is a 1501 as apposed to the 1502 which I have in the current 400 which is ribbed. I also think that I saw somewhere on this forum, that those with the black caps (depending on serial number) had the "Mod" done. Answers please

Hi Micky, Nashville 400's with serial number 08575482 and beyond already have the "mod" installed at the factory. The 1501-4 Black Widow is the "shallow basket" which is still being used in the Nashville 1000. Last week, I was fortunate to have located & purchased a nos Nashville 400, still in the original shipping carton, unopened. According to Mike Brown's records it was built in April, 1999.

Thanks Jerry. My current 400 also has the shallow basket B/W speaker, but I believe it to be the 1502 as it is "Ribbed"... I look forward to trying the newer one (Black corner caps) when my mate brings it down to me on March 4th. He said there are no "ribbs" so I take it to be a 1501. I had a Vegas 400 since 1987 but it was burned in a house fire, hence that's why I went after Nashville 400's as it the same amp as you know but just the single channel. Vegas 400's are harder to come by in England.I will make note of the serial number you gave me...thanks alot

The Nashville 400's with the chrome corners are older models. The latest Nashville amps had black corners.

Generally speaking, 1995, give or take a year? Also, It would be difficult to determine whether or not a Nashville 400 is equipped with the factory mod simply by cosmetic features as I've seen the later style black hardware replaced with nickel by the owner. The year that I mentioned is an approximate date, however, the serial number previously stated is exact.

The black hardware was only a cosmetic change and did not represent any modification to the amp. The mod kit was initiated around the year 2000. Hope that this helps.

Thanks for the information guys.I'll probably have my "second" Nashville 400 this sunday off a friend of mine. I've used Peavey steel amps since they came to England in the mid 70's. Some of you forumites may have known that my Vegas 400 burned to ashes in a house fire last August, and my toasted Sho-Bud was shown on this forum. I replaced the Vegas with a Nashville 400. The "Bud" is also being rebuilt
