What year circuit change in Peavey amps?

Post by Cliff Kane »

What year did Peavey switch from using discrete transistors to using IC's? What year for this change in the Session 400? I know the cosmetics of the amps changed, but I'm not sure if the cosmetic changes happened at the same time as the change from discrete to IC.

Thanks!

No IC chips in a Session 400. The Session 400 Limited had IC chips.

Thanks, Ken. So all years of Session 400 are discrete components? I thought that the later years of Session 400 were IC's, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

I think the newer Nashville 1000 and Nashville 112 amps come very close to (if not as good as) the tone of the old Session 400. This newer breed of amps seem much warmer to my ear the the Nashville 400! Still for some the N-400 is the tone!

Each of us had our own tonal preferences for sure!
