Volume pedal pots

Post by John Billings »

I have a friend who's a retired Hammond repair guy. He has more spare parts than an electronics store! Due to illness he can barely see anymore. I thought I'd look thru his parts bins for some pots. I need to know everything about them. Value in ohms, parts number, manufacturers, etc.
Thanks, JB

500k AB EJ Extra Life Pots are what you are looking for with a long 1/4" round shaft.

It'll say on them.

Thanks, Eric! I didn't want to take apart one of my Goodrich pedals. I have the hardest time gettin' those strings on right.

John, just remove the 4 screws from the bottom of the pedal. Lift the plate and look inside. You will not disturb the string.

John, I've done that many times in the last thirty years, but you know, you really can't see the pot very well. At least not well enough to get any numbers off it. It's kinda mounted under part of the casting. I just hate foolin' with those danged strings! Thanks though. I hope to stop at my friend's this weekend and take a look see. He has several boxes of A/B pots, so I'm hopeful.

The four pots that I just found in my own spare parts boxes are all type J. Three are from Mexico. They're all 500K pots, but some of them measure a bit higher. One does not say Mexico, so I'm assuming USA. Milwaukee? All the pots have differing numbers. The USA pot says A-B, A-673224, and TYPE J. I also have a very similarly constructed Ohmite. It says OHMITE, Type AB, CU5041,500K,and JN. I assume this is made to mil spec?
Edit: Mil spec is JAN isn't it?
[This message was edited by John Billings on 13 December 2005 at 10:46 AM.]
