Lexicon MPX 100 Repair
I have a Lexicon MPX 100 that is nearly new
and last week, all the lights on the front
panel came on and obviously, it stopped
working. I checked with Lexicon and they
want $90 minimum to fix it. Anybody, other
than Lexicon, that can repair it for much
less money?
Thanks in advance

Jim, can you come up with another 9VAC power supply to try on it? I don't know if this is the problem, but it is worth a try.

A lot of units are only "factory" repair if you can get them repaired at all. A lot of companies do not distribute schematics which is really needed for any "intelligent" troubleshooting. Then there is the proprietary parts that you must try to get.
If a unit is out of warranty, depending on the unit's price, unfortunately it can become a "throwaway" unit because of the labor and parts costs.
The $90 may seem like a lot, but that is a lot less than many other compaines minimum labor charge. In 1989 or 90 I contacted Sony about a casette tape deck repair and their minimum labor charge at that time was $104.00 (two hour minimum).
